Replacing cracked shower floor tiles.

Use a putty knife to apply it to the crack in the tile. We have a crack running though a couple of tiles on our shower floor. Replace broken or missing ceramic tiles to prevent further damage. Fill the hole or crack as best you can.

Firstly ensure the tile is clean. And cracked shower tiles can be more difficult to remove. You can easily replace cracked and broken ceramic and clay tiles if you kept extra tiles and grout mix. After you remove the existing tile then scrape away any high areas of thinset that was used to attach the broken tile.

Place the cold chisel on the deepest crack in the tile and carefully hit it with the hammer until the cold chisel is underneath the tile. Slowly pry the tile up with the cold chisel. This method of repairing tile will only work on tiles that have a glazed finish not porous tiles. Damaged tiles allow moisture to get under the tile so replace broken ceramic tiles right away.

You should always remove the surrounding grout before removing any broken tiles. If it is a hairline crack that isn t that noticeable there is the option of try to cover it with paint. The tiles must be chipped away in small pieces with a hammer and a chisel. Watch the grout lines around the tile to ensure the grout and surrounding tiles don t also crack.

Once you removed it make use of a fine grit sandpaper to brush against it and make it smoother. Once it s up remove the rest of the tile with your hands. Having cracked tiles on your shower walls can be an unsightly and annoying experience. Replacing cracked floor tiles can be a tricky job and depending on the hardness type and thickness of tile you will need to use a hammer and cold chisel to widen and extend the crack and if possible drill into the crack in several places using a tile max drill bit or even a diamond dust drill bit.

This is a temporary solution that will tie you over for a while. I m hoping to repair rather than replace the tiles. Also cover 1 2 millimetres 0 039 0 079 in on either side of the crack to make sure that it seals. Smear the polish along the crack in your tile until the entire crack is covered.
