Rolling Noise Attic

A loose attic vent or shutter on a window can make a banging noise in the wind.

They may also decide to drum on a part of the house that has the right resonance to attract a mate. A rhythmic tapping noise in the attic can come from outside the attic. Many times you can hear the noise or sounds in the attic or wall of the walnuts or acorns rolling around or being dropped down the wall cavities. Woodpeckers will often develop an interest in a home and will visit several times through the day to bore foraging and nesting holes in the siding.
